Spring2ACTion – Help Us Plant the Seeds of Sustainability

Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture is the amazing nonprofit organization responsible for multiple programs dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable local food system in the DC area.

The Mobile Market (read about our involvement here) distributes healthy, local and affordable food to underserved communities and provides educational resources for how to make nutritious and cost-effective use of that food; the Farm to School program aims to improve the well-being of local kids by getting more healthy, sustainably produced foods into school meals.

And then there's the super cool and future-friendly Farm Camp, an educational yet playful farming, cooking and dining experience. From planting seeds and collecting eggs to taste tests and chef demos, kids learn about the origins of food in a safe and interactive setting that encourages mindfulness of the environment, responsible food practices and love for the earth and what it gives us.

Arcadia wants to give all kids the opportunity to find out where their food comes from. Each year, about a quarter of campers are able to attend through the scholarship fund, which connects low-income families with this fun and educational experience.

You can join us in planting the seeds of sustainability in the minds of the future by making a donation on our Spring2ACTion fundraising page. To learn more about Arcadia's Farm Camp Scholarship Program (and to hear from the young farmers themselves), watch this short video.
